portPholio

Portpholio reads .png and .jpg images in selected folder and generates javascript code to display them with thumbnails on the same page. You can display up to 64 images (that is a lot!). Il your folder contains more than 100 images, only the 100 first ones will be processed.
By way of advertising, I deliver you instructions for use, so you will save time for using the soft now!

Instructions for use

Installation

PortPholio comes as a unique executable file pph.exe or pphc.exe.
When downloading, your browser will warn you that an executable file can contain viruses, it is normal.
Don't worry, there is no virus in portpholio!
On the contrary, portPholio is a clean software:
- It does not add key in the registry.
- It does not add extra programs such as .dll's or Active-X in your system.
On download, save the file in a named folder such as c:\portpholio\ or, better, c:\Program Files\portpholio\.

Quick start

Notice1

Now, go to your image folder (e:\argus in this example) and double-click on IndexL.html
You have just built your first image table, which should show as below:

ou
votre navigateur lit le javascript mais cette fonction est désactivée.

Local images

Two files have been added in your image folder:
TableauL.js is a javascript code file to build the image table.
IndexL.html is a web page including the aforesaid code.
The terminal "L", for "Local", means that those files refer to images stored in the same folder.
Let's say that the images are local, or that the page is local (in relation to images).
Vous can transfer the .html file on your site along with images, and your page is ready to work.

Remote images

The remote table (terminal "D" for "Distant") will refer to images in another folder.
This is interesting for at least two reasons:
- As it refers to absolute addresses, the index page is independent to images.
- The reader can read images from another site without leaving your site.
- If you write an ad on an auction site for instance, you have to insert your code in a predefined page.
To create a remote table and index, you have just to paste the address (URL) of your remote image folder in the "Remote folder" text zone. Check that the images on your site are the same as on your computer.

And that's all... or nearly all !

Before pressing the "GO" button, you can also:
- Change the order of the images.
- Remove images from the list (but without deleting them!).
- Set the background colour, the borders, the margins.
- Change the names of the files to be generated.
- Choose your language.
- Keep the current settings in memory.

Then, you can customize your web pages in two ways:
- Inserting in your web page the portPholio generated javascript code.
- Using the generated HTML page and inserting your code above and below your images.

Note that many zones come with tooltips which display when the cursor comes over.
You will soon know them all by heart, so you can disable this function.

This version is free, I mean that it costs nothing. It is fully functional. No limit in time, no nags, no bridling, no ad except a discreet link to this site on the generated pages (thank you for not removing it). You can give verbatim copies. You can't sell copies or include portPholio with a commercial product.

For €5 using Paypal, you can download portpholio with two extra features:
- A function to add comments which display as tooltips linked to thumbnails.
- A possibility to remove easily the link to this site.
